My name is Lanie Kuhlman and I am a Li¬censed Clinical Professional Counselor.
I have been working in the field of mental health for over 20 years. I have achieved a Master of Arts degree in Human Services and Counseling and have five years of Doctoral level training from the Adler School of Professional Counseling, where I received a certificate in Training for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

My approach is to understand an individual’s perception according to their experience and then learn how to apply practical coping skills through skill building utilized both in The Practice of Mindfulness and Cognitive-Behavioral techniques. This is a collaborative process that utilizes your strengths and will add new ideas to your current life skills.

I have experience with all ages and working with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, crisis, Wellness, weight loss and general life problems.

I have an extensive background in clinical assessments, problem solving life issues, and crisis work where I have worked within the emergency rooms of Centegra, Vista, Condell, Good Shepherd and now currently at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital as a consultant for psychiatric assessments in the Emergency Room.

I also have experience working as a bereavement counselor for Hospice, specializing in grief and loss, and as a wellness counselor in oncology.

Whatever life concerns you may be facing, I believe in utilizing mindfulness to meet you where you are today and to learn how to move forward! My choice of tools are empowerment and teaching mindfulness skills.
